Christmas Shopping in Dublin

To make the most of your Christmas hotel break in Dublin, take a short stroll from the hotel to Grafton Street, one of Dublin’s most prominent shopping districts and enjoy the festive atmosphere. Listen to buskers singing and playing Christmas tunes under the Christmas lights, admire the iconic Christmas window displays in Brown Thomas Department store and warm up with a cup of tea in the famous Bewley’s Café afterwards, one of Dublin’s most recognizable landmarks having held a special place in Dublin’s heart for over 175 years.

Henry Street shopping district is not far away, just a 15 minute walk, and at Christmas time it is certainly an experience not to be missed. Join in on the festive fun, visit Santa Clause himself at his Grotto in Arnott’s Department Store and bag yourself a bargain haggling at the Christmas markets.

Christmas Market at Dublin Castle

The Dublin Castle Christmas Market is of course held within the stunning grounds of Dublin Castle. The entrance to the garden is usually lined with Christmas trees. So, the dates for the Dublin Castle Christmas Market are still TBC, however, as it went ahead last year and given that things are much more ‘normal’ this year, we expect them to run from around Tuesday, December 6th to Wednesday, December 21st. (Dates TBC, we will update them on our websites once we get confirmation). Dublin Castle is only a 12-minute walk from our hotel and it is also easily accessible by public transport.

There has been a lot of live entertainment at the Dublin Castle Christmas market over the years with everyone from the Dublin Gospel Choir and Cantairí Óga Átha Cliath to New Dublin Voices and Crux Vocal ensemble taking to the stage. As is the case with every Christmas market in Ireland, food plays a huge part. Many of the wooden chalets at the Christmas market in Dublin Castle sold some form of sweet or savoury treat. There was also a small open-air bar.

The Panto

The Panto is a Christmas tradition amongst the Irish, with a variety of Pantos to choose from each year, you’ll be falling off your seats laughing. This is an experience definitely not to be missed and it’s suitable for all ages, perfectly paired with your Dublin hotel Christmas package.

The Jungle Book is taking place at the iconic Gaiety Theatre and runs from the 27^th November 2022 – 8^th January 2023. Forget about your worries and your strife as you join in on a tropical adventure with Mowgli, the man-child, as he swings and sings his way through this jungle journey. Filled with Panto monkey-business and hiss-sterical shenanigans, we meet all your favourite jungle friends along the way, plus a few familiar animal crackers.

Dublin Zoo Wild Lights

Wild Lights, the spectacular, night-time experience at Dublin Zoo, is back with an exciting brand-new theme – The Magic of Life! Before coming across the magnificent pollinators, such as enormous bees and bee hives, go through the stunning and magnificent woodland settings.

Discover some of nature’s most astonishing changes, such as the transformation of a caterpillar into a beautiful butterfly or the fascinating cooperation of ants in a colony. Explore the richness and abundance of life in the rainforest’s treetops, then dive underwater to see some of the most stunning marine life and captivating coral, all of which are magically illuminated by hand-crafted traditional Chinese lanterns. Wild Lights will take place from 28th October 2022 – 9th January 2023.
